Adding Z-Wave Devices to the Concord 4

Devices must be within 6 ft of the cellular module when adding them to the network. If a device will not be within 6ft of the module in its permanent installed location, include it in the network before permanently installing the device.

Follow the manufacturer's directions to install and power up the Z-Wave device and make sure that it is working properly locally before adding it to the Z-Wave network. We recommend an HVAC professional for thermostat installations.

Make sure the alarm panel is connected to AC power when enrolling Z-Wave devices. Also, when adding devices, first add the devices that will be located closest to the control panel, and then move outwards.

On the cellular module, press and hold the Z-Wave Mode Button for a few seconds (it is on the bottom edge of the smaller circuit board, and labeled Push Button), until the orange Busy light begins flashing a 4-blink pattern.

The module is now ready for you to add the device. Follow these directions for your specific device:

GE Plug-in Lamp or Light/Appliance Module

To add the device, double click the button in the middle of the light or appliance module.edit.jpg

GE In-Wall Dimmer or On/Off Light Switch

To add the device, turn on and off the light switch.

Schlage Lever Lock or Deadbolt

On the lock keypad, enter the six-digit programming code (provided in the documentation from Schlage), then press the Schlage button, followed by 0. The Schlage button will flash orange for a minute. Wait until the light flashes green before disrupting the lock or panel. Failure to do so will result in lock malfunctions.

Kwikset Deadbolt

Open the back cover and press the white button at the top left. Wait until the red light (under the paper next to the button) stops flashing before disrupting the lock or panel. Failure to do so will result in lock malfunctions.

Once the device has been added successfully, the panel will beep, and the orange Busy light on the cellular module will turn on solid for one minute. If the panel does not issue this confirmation, try pressing the Z-Wave device’s button again, or refer to troubleshooting at the link below.

Once you’ve added the devices, the website will automatically update the Devices list (under the emPower tab) within about 3 minutes of the last device being added.
